Istanbul Museum Pass: Essential 5-Day Check

Travel Tips in Istanbul 👁️ 30

Istanbul Museum Pass costs 105 euros, lasts 5 days from the first museum, and covers 13 ministry museums once each. Hagia Sophia is not that card.

Istanbul Museum Pass is the Ministry of Culture card: 105 euros, 13 ministry museums, one entry each. The five days start at the first museum door, not on the day you pay. Galata Tower entry on the card stops at 18:14. The Archaeological Museums and the Museum of Turkish and Islamic Arts stop at 18:45. Night sessions after 19:00 are a separate ticket. Hagia Sophia, the Basilica Cistern, and Dolmabahçe are not that card. The airport car is separate too: 45 euros per vehicle from Istanbul Airport to Sultanahmet.

Istanbul Museum Pass is the Ministry of Culture card: 105 euros, 13 ministry museums, one entry each, and the five days start at the first museum door, not on the day you pay. Colina Rojo Travel (TÜRSAB 16602) does not sell this card. We drive the airport car and run the private day. The card is a ticket bundle. It is not a guide, not lunch, and not the ride from the airport.

The live product page, including the map of the 13, is the MuseumPass İstanbul e-card. Read that map the week you buy. Restoration closes doors that were open last month.

Istanbul Museum Pass is five days, not five visits

You pay 105 euros once. The clock starts when you walk into the first museum on the list. Five days later the card is finished, even if you used one door. Each museum on the list lets you in once. A second visit to the same building is a new ticket.

Night museum hours after 19:00 are outside the card. If a tower or a palace advertises an evening session, that session is a separate ticket. Buy the card at a ministry sales point with your identity card, or take the e-card the same page sells. A reseller’s “Istanbul card” with a hop-on bus is a different product. Compare the price with 105 euros before you tap pay.

The five days do not pause for a flight day. If you land at 14:00, that afternoon is the car and the hotel. Activate the card on the first morning you will actually be at a museum door.

The three doors the page names

The ministry text names three cut-offs. Galata Tower: be inside the entry by 18:14. Istanbul Archaeological Museums: last entry 18:45. Museum of Turkish and Islamic Arts: last entry 18:45. Those three are on the card. The other names live on the map, and the map is the list that counts.

Galata Tower on a clear afternoon is the visit most people picture. Our walk through the ticket and the hill is the Galata Tower page. The same tower on our partner brand is Galata Tower with Hagia Sophia Travel. The card gets you through the daytime door. It does not add a guide on the stairs.

The Archaeological Museums sit beside the palace grounds in the Old City. The Turkish and Islamic Arts Museum sits by the Hippodrome. Both close their card entry at 18:45. A plan that says “after dinner” misses both.

Tickets this card does not sell

Hagia Sophia is not named on that product page. The prayer hall is a working mosque and the visit is free when you follow the dress rules. The upper gallery is a separate ticket. On our guided visits that gallery is 25 euros per person, paid at the desk. Shoulders, knees, and a scarf are on the Istanbul mosque etiquette page. The Blue Mosque is the same kind of door: free, shoes off, prayer pauses the visit.

The Basilica Cistern is not named either. It sells its own ticket. Hours, the queue, and what the hall looks like are on our Basilica Cistern page. Dolmabahçe Palace is a national palace with its own box office. Use the Dolmabahçe Palace page for that ticket, not the 105 euro card.

Topkapı is the one people assume is inside the 105 euros. The product page you are buying from does not name it in the text. Open the map. If the palace is the reason for the card, and the map leaves it off, you just bought the wrong ticket. A private day that is built around the palace is the planner, with the hours and the stops written down before you land.

When 105 euros is the wrong buy

Istanbul Museum Pass pays when you will walk into several of the 13 inside those five days. One Galata Tower visit does not spend a five-day card well. Two nights in the city, with one full day between the flights, usually hold one museum interior plus the square. That shape wants a single ticket or a guided morning, not a bundle priced for a longer week.

Closed days still count against the five. Check each museum’s own closed day before the first entry. Our Istanbul on Tuesday note is the Old City version of that check. A card that starts on a day the tower is shut has already lost a day.

The card also does not move you. Istanbul Airport to a Sultanahmet hotel is 48 km, 45 to 60 minutes, 45 euros for the vehicle, up to 6 passengers and 6 bags. Meet at Gate 9, point CEO 34. Sabiha Gökçen is 65 km, 75 to 95 minutes, 50 euros for the vehicle, pillar 10. Book Istanbul Airport to Sultanahmet for that door. The return is a second booking: Sultanahmet to Istanbul Airport. A wider country brief sits on GoTürkiye.

Four steps before you pay

First, open the ministry map and circle only the museums you will reach on foot in this trip. Istanbul Museum Pass is a yes when that circle has several names, and a no when it has one.

Second, put the first entry on a morning when that museum is open. The five days start then. A Tuesday shut-down does not extend the card.

Third, keep Hagia Sophia, the cistern, and Dolmabahçe on their own lines. Dress for the mosques. Buy the cistern and the palace at their own desks.

Fourth, book the airport car to the hotel door. The card starts at a museum, and the car starts at Gate 9 or pillar 10. If the day needs a private vehicle and a guide between those doors, build it before you fly.

Common questions

Does the Istanbul Museum Pass include Hagia Sophia?

No. The prayer hall is free with mosque dress. The upper gallery is a separate ticket, 25 euros per person on our guided visits, paid on site.

Does it include the Basilica Cistern or Dolmabahçe?

Neither door is named on the ministry product page. Each sells its own ticket. Use our cistern and Dolmabahçe pages for those visits.

Does it include Topkapı Palace?

The product text does not name it. Check the map on the day you pay. If the palace is missing from the map, the 105 euros did not buy that door.

When do the five days start?

At the first museum you enter with the card. Buying it on arrival night does not start the clock. Entering a museum does.

Is a night visit included?

No. Sessions after 19:00 are outside the card. Galata Tower daytime entry on the card stops at 18:14.

Does the card include the airport car?

No. Sultanahmet is 45 euros per vehicle from Istanbul Airport and 50 euros per vehicle from Sabiha Gökçen, up to 6 passengers and 6 bags. The hotel is a separate bill.

Hold the card for a week that can use several ministry doors. For the square, the gallery, and a car that already knows the hotel pin, keep the arrival, the return, and the planner as three separate bookings.
