Funicular, then the tram
Taksim Square is not on the Sultanahmet tram. The public chain is the F1 funicular down to Kabataş, then the T1 tram toward Bağcılar, off at Sultanahmet. The map is the Metro Istanbul network. Book Istanbul Airport to Sultanahmet when the hotel is in the old city, and use the hotel address you actually booked when the night is in Taksim. The return is Sultanahmet to Istanbul Airport for an old-city door. Tell us the real lobby either way. The tour van is not the airport car.
